If you ask the typical entrepreneur what they do to relax, most will give you a quizzical look and ask “Relax? What’s that?”
The reason entrepreneurs are baffled by this simple question is that, with “to do” lists a mile long, millions of thoughts crammed into their brains and dozens of tasks that need to be accomplished, most are so busy building their businesses that asking them to take some time to wind-down would be like asking them to stop breathing.
Take time to relax
But here’s the thing; taking some time to relax and indeed planning time to get away from your business completely, even if only for a short while, is one of the best things that any entrepreneur can do to increase the chance of success.
The main reason is simple your body can only go “full steam ahead” for so long before it runs out of steam. Many entrepreneurs push themselves so hard, for so long, that they become physically and mentally exhausted, something that can lead to critical lapses in thinking, bad choices and, in some cases, failure.
Step away from your business
Another reason is this, by stepping away from your business for just a little while and performing an activity that diverts your attention, you’ll come back refreshed and, in many cases, bring new ideas and fresh thoughts with you, ideas and thoughts that may well be the key to your success.
Taking time to relax every day, setting aside a few days off every month, will do more for your business than you could possibly imagine
Keep in mind that we’re not talking about taking a vacation per se, but planning time every day to step away from work and do something that doesn’t take a ton of concentration or physical effort.
For example, taking a nice refreshing walk around the block, working for a few minutes on a giant jigsaw puzzle or, like one of the entrepreneur as we know, creating something with Lego bricks, are all excellent ways to relax and refresh your brain and body’s energy.
Whatever it is, taking time to relax every day, setting aside a few days off every month, will do more for your business than you could possibly imagine and to keep your brain and body functioning at their peak capacity.
Take your mind off of your business
As long as it’s something that takes your mind off of your business, relaxes you and feels good, planning it into your day should definitely be one of your priorities. Even if it’s only for 10 or 15 minutes, the difference that taking a few minutes to relax will make in your physical and mental energy will be better than even the strongest cup of coffee.
